WILLIAM CARTER HENRY

Word has been received here of the death of William Carter Henry, 72 chairman of the boards of the Northern Ohio Telephone Co and of General Telephone of Ohio at Norwalk, Ohio. Mr. Henry was born May 4, 1897 to John WIlliam and Florida Carter Henry. He attended Wabash College and was graduated from the Univeristy of Illinois in 1922. He served as a fighter pilot for the Royal Canadian AF during WWI, being discharged from the service in 1918 as a Capt. On Nov 9, 1941 he reentered military service as communications adviser assigned to the staff of the chief signal officer in Washington DC. In 1944, he was assigned to the staff of Gen. Eisenhower's Supreme Allied Command in Europe as a full colonel in the Signal Corps to help plan the invasion of Europe. Surviving are his widow, Martha Ann; a son, Frank of Shaker Heights, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Roger W. (Patricia) Hamblin of Shaker Heighs; a sister, Miss Mabel Frances Henry of Chicago and 10 grandchildren. Services were conducted in Norwalk.
